How to start a relationship with Jesus Christ:

1. Understand that everyone has sinned.

   1. “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (Romans 3:23, NLT)

   2. “If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.” (1 John 1:10, NLT)

2. Understand that Jesus Christ is the only way for your sins to be forgiven.

   1. “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6, NLT)

   2. “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” (Romans 3:22, NLT)

   3. “For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.” (Hebrews 10:10, NLT)

3. Believe in Jesus Christ to be the payment for your sins and confess Him as Lord.

   1. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”” (Romans 10:9–11, NLT)

4. A Model Prayer

   1. “Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I realize that I have sinned. I understand that my sins deserve death. I believe that You died on the cross to pay for all of my sins. I accept what you did for me and I place my faith in You. I believe you are Lord and that you died and rose again. I call on your name, Lord Jesus Christ, to save me from my sins. Please come into my life and help me have a personal relationship with You. In Your name, I pray, Amen.”
